He first saw her on Norcombe Hill, Bathsheba was her name—she, a poor milkmaid; he, a young and successful farmer. Their lives went different paths then. But little did Gabriel know that fate would bring him again to her, not in the same way though—she, an independent woman; he, a poor shepherd. Bathsheba finds herself torn between suitors Seargant Troy and Mr. Boldwood, Gabriel’s love she has long regarded as unworthy. There’s no doubt Bathsheba will make some wrong choices and will soon find herself in the midst of a tragedy.

Book Blogger Hop (9/9-9/12) & Follow Friday #62

Book Blogger HopBook Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer (Crazy For Books)The Hop lasts Friday-Monday every week. So sign up and join the hop.

Background on the Hop (by Jennifer/Crazy for Books)
In March of 2010, in response to what I thought was a void in the book blogging community, I started the Book Blogger Hop. I loved all of the #FF (Friday Follow) tweets on Twitter, where everyone spreads love to their favorite people in order to help them gain new followers. So I thought to myself – “How cool would it be to have something like that where fellow book bloggers could come and find new book blogs to follow, find new books to read, and gain more exposure for our blogs?” This CRAZY idea became the Book Blogger Hop!
This Week's Question:
Most of us primarily read one genre of books, with others sprinkled. If authors stopped writing that genre, what genre would you start reading? Or would you give up reading completely if you couldn't read that genre anymore?

Fixing Cupid by Cristian YoungMiller

Meet Ben Bonner. Aged 37 and a lawyer by profession. Life doesn't seem to be doing him justice as his yet another relationship breaks up. The only thing missing in his life is 'true love.' Ben approaches his best friend Carey who recommends Ben to move into an apartment with Jack, the modern day Cupid. Yes, although he may not look like it, Jack is really a Cupid, making people falling in love with each other. If you live with him, you'll end up finding the love of your life. Of course, Ben doesn't believe this myth.
Cupid seems to be doing his job right when Ben eventually meets Anna, a beautiful woman in her 30s. But soon he realizes that life with Jack as a 'roommate' is not easy as Ben gets into one trouble after another. And somehow, in his frustration, and without realizing he causes the Cupid to break. Since the Cupid is broken, nobody in the world would ever love again. And what about Ben? And now Ben has to accept this seemingly impossible task of fixing the Cupid again. For everyone's sake.

Fric Frac Fridays (1)

FricFrac Fridays is a bookish meme hosted by Coffee Table Reviews.  In this feature, questions to find out what exactly book bloggers love and hate as a reader.

Q. Do you have a favorite hero/heroine? What made them stand above all the rest?

A. Favorite Hero:
Someone asks me to pick a favorite hero, I always pick one from the Classics. This is Sidney Carton from the book "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens. Well, there was the love triangle between Sidney, Charles, and Lucie, and Carton did the thing for the sake of his love that his counterpart could never do: an act of self-sacrifice. This book had the tragic ending I haven't come across in any other book so far.

Quotes from "Northlight" by Deborah J Ross

Cover from Goodreads
Yesterday I reviewed Northlight by Deborah Wheeler/Deborah J Ross and I guessed you might also like to read teasing quotes from the book. Although I've never read the author before but this book has turned out to be my favorite. I recommend this book to all fantasy lovers.

Read my review here!
Following are some great quotes from the book:

Up and up we went, one shivering, dogged step after another, woman and mare. My fingers had gone numb, laced in her mane, and I could no longer tell if she pulled me along or the other way round.
p. 9
As we neared the crest, I squinted up at the sky, as white and airless as if some vengeful god had sucked it dry. I reminded myself there were no gods here in Laurea, vengeful or otherwise.
